‘Happy pill’ Pacres glad to inspire UST in win over NU
Dimdim Pacres is more than University of Santo Tomas’ substitute player; she’s also the one the Golden Tigresses look to if they’re feeling a little down.
She described her role with UST simply as the Golden Tigresses’ “happy pill.”
Article continues after this advertisementWell, that “happy pill” was instrumental in UST’s four-set upset over National University, 21-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-12, in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament.

Pacres had 11 points off the bench to help the Golden Tigresses get into fifth seed with a 3-3 record.
Article continues after this advertisement“They said I was their happy pill so I just let out my energy, my excitement. I was loud on the court,” said Pacres Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre. “We just talked and got noisy and I was surprised that it was really effective.”
UST head coach Kung Fu Reyes has always demanded communication from his team during this season and it was Pacres who finally delivered as they took their first two-game win streak.

“My instruction was to just get noisy and talk to each other on the floor so that they won’t feel to pressured and they’ll just enjoy the game,” said Reyes.
Pacres added she might repeat her in-game rambunctiousness, as it was her own little way of intimidation.
“I’ll just continue what I’m doing because I think it scares the other players,” said Pacres.
