Paul Mulders struck twice as reigning UFL champion Global dumped Cambodian side Boeung Ket Angkor, 2-0, Tuesday night to grab top spot in Group F at National Stadium in Phnom Penh.

The former Filipino international opened the scoring with a stunning strike in the fifth minute, before converting a penalty in the second half as Global followed up its 1-0 win over Magwe of Myanmar two weeks ago with an impressive away victory.

Global dominated the game for long periods with Hikaru Minegishi, Matthew Hartmann and Amani Aguinaldo wasting glorious chances after Mulders put the Filipinos ahead.

In the end, Mulders’ brace proved enough for Global as the Filipino champions warmed up for their clash against Johor Dairul Ta’zim on Tuesday in Johor.

Johor, a 3-0 winner over Boeung Ket on two weeks ago, was held to a 1-1 draw by Magwe in the early kickoff which meant the Malaysian champions dropped to second spot. Magwe picked up only its first point in the group, while Boeung Ket stayed winless in two matches.
