National University hopes to string some sort of a winning run against Adamson while Far Eastern University tries to get back at La Salle Wednesday at the start of the second round of eliminations in the UAAP women’s volleyball at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
The Lady Bulldogs snapped a three-game freefall after they survived the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 25-23, 25-17, 22-25, 18-25, 15-12, last Sunday.
It was a victory that coach Roger Gorayeb hoped would bring back the bite in the Lady Bulldogs, who are caught in a gridlock at third place with three other teams.
One of those squads is FEU, which will run into a La Salle side that recently got stung by a bitter defeat at the hands of rival Ateneo last Saturday.
The Lady Spikers hope to repeat over the Lady Tamaraws, who they tripped in the first round, 29-27, 25-22, 25-23.
But La Salle, at solo second with a 5-2 record, can expect a tough resistance from FEU, which is also smarting from a defeat to University of Santo Tomas that snapped the Lady Tamaraws’ three-game winning streak.
The powerhouse Lady Bulldogs—led by FIVB World Clubs veteran Jaja Santiago and strong backups Jorelle Singh and Risa Sato—are expected to run roughshod over the drifting Lady Falcons, who finished the first round without a win to show.
Gorayeb said their win over UP should bring back their confidence brought about by their impressive 3-0 start.
