Dizon, Nakamori log karting victories

John Dizon split the honors with Japanese defending champion Takeharu Nakamori in the kickoff leg of the 2017 Petron Blaze 100 X30 Challenge Philippines karting series at Carmona Racetrack in Cavite recently.

Dizon, the newbie in the X30 Senior Blaze 100 races, ruled Race 2 for the Edgesport Racing team after Nakamori of Apex Racing had topped Race 1 over teammate Mikey Jordan by 0.216 of a second.

Eduardo Coseteng Jr., Zach David and William Go of Edgesport Racing shared the limelight with Dizon and Nakamori in the races sanctioned by Automobile Association Philippines.

Coseteng seized the checkered flag over Keon Romoff in both Races 1 and 2 of the X30 Junior Petron Tri-Action races, David beat Go and Junho Kim to the X30 Mini-ROK Petron XCS title, and Go pipped Joharry Suba in a photo-finish for the Formula Cadet Expert Ultron crown.

But it was Dizon who stole the show despite placing third in both races’ prefinals. —STEVE SILVA, RACING CONTRIBUTOR
