UP never recovered from first loss, says Dorog

University of the Phiippines started out as the best team in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament winning its first four games.

The Lady Maroons’ last four games, however, have been the opposite.

After losing its first match to Ateneo, UP eventually bottomed out and slipped to sixth seed with a 4-4 record.

Libero Justine Dorog knows that the loss has changed the team’s while dynamic.

“We never recovered from our first loss to Ateneo,” said Dorog Saturday after losing their second game against the Lady Eagles, 25-15, 25-14, 25-21. “For me, it’s been really difficult to recover from what happened the past few games.”

“There’s no problem on the physical aspect. We’re having problems on the mental side of things.”

Dorog, despite the losing streak, hopes they can still turn things around in the remainder of the second round.

“We’re not yet in panic mode and coach [Jerry Yee] said we won’t do anything new and we just have to train harder.”
