University of the Philippines middle blocker Kathy Bersola said their win against University of the East was a big help after the Lady Maroons suffered four straight losses in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament.

The Lady Maroons had the best start in the tournament winning their first four games to take the top spot in the league but they crashed back to earth after a four-game skid.

“This is a morale booster because it was very hard to lose four straight games,” said Bersola who had 18 points in their four-set win against the Lady Warriors, 25-14, 18-25, 25-15, 25-10, on Wednesday.

Bersola said they weren’t at their best, emotionally and mentally, during the losing streak, citing a lack of confidence.

“Probably we didn’t have any confidence during the losing streak and the enjoyment wasn’t there,” said Bersola, who is in her final year with UP.
