Contrary to his earlier statements, UFC President Dana White said he won’t stop Lightweight champion Conor McGregor from pursuing a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Although the potentially blockbuster matchup remains hearsay at this point, the outspoken UFC executive said he won’t stop his most bankable superstar from earning his biggest purse yet.

“It doesn’t make a lot of sense for my business,” White told TMZ Sports. “But I would never keep Conor from making that kind of money.”

Still, White admitted his preference for the Irishman to return to the promotion first and defend his 155-lb. strap. However, he won’t hold anything against McGregor if he does crossover to boxing.

“He obviously has a lot of opportunities right now. Tony Ferguson is out there, the Floyd Mayweather thing is out there, we’ll see how this thing plays out,” he said.
