Jeron Teng rued AMA Online Education’s missed chance to advance to the semifinals in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup.

The Titans fell to Tanduay in the quarterfinals, 80-76, with the former La Salle star was caged to his lowest output of the tournament with only six points on a paltry 1-of-15 shooting, to go with six rebounds, six assists and five turnovers in foul-plagued performance.

Teng didn’t deny his struggles, giving the Rhum Masters credit for shutting him down in the all-important tilt.

“All throughout the game, even from the start, they were doubling me. I had a hard time moving because they had lots of guys guarding me and instantly double-teams me. I had no option but to give up the ball and had a hard time create for myself. I wasn’t given a chance to make things work,” he said.

But it was nonetheless a satisfying maiden foray in the PBA D-League for Teng, who averaged 25.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists for the fifth-seed AMA this conference, and he believes that the team have showed that it can hang on with the league’s contenders.

“Again, our losses were close ones. We also beat the number one team in Cignal, so it just shows that this team has a lot of potential,” he said.

Teng, however, remained non-committal on his future, saying that he’s looking forward to returning in the Foundation Cup but he’s still unsure which team he will suit up for.

“I’ll definitely return because I have to play in the second conference. But I don’t know yet which team,” he said. “As of now, I’m just trying to focus on my thesis. I’m gonna focus first on school, so let’s see what happens in the second conference.”
