Ateneo endured relentless attacks from Far Eastern University to prevail, 25-20, 25-22, 17-25, 21-25, 15-8 Saturday night and move closer toward the UAAP women’s volleyball Final Four at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

The Lady Eagles lost a two sets to love advantage and had to work extra hard for their 8th straight victory and a league-leading 9-1 record.

University of Santo Tomas also went the same route earlier as it overcame a third-set dip to dispatch Adamson, 25-12, 25-18, 22-25, 25-19.

Jho Maraguinot scattered 23 points for the Lady Eagles, while Jia Morado added 6 points and dished out 38 excellent sets.

The Lady Tamaraws committed five straight errors in the final set to yield their fifth loss in 10 matches.

Just when the Tigresses were about to cruise to an easy win after taking the first two sets, the determined Lady Falcons stole the third.

That was enough to wake up the Tigresses from their stupor, launching their double-barrel attacks in Cherry Rondina and EJ Laure to fire away in the fourth and close out their sixth win in 10 games.

Rondina topscored with 18 points for UST, while Laure added 14 and Pam Lastimosa and Ria Meneses 11 apiece.

The Tigresses, who outgunned the Lady Falcons, 55-32, is running third and fueled their campaign for a Final Four berth.
