University of the Philippines upheld its bid for a Final Four spot after a quick sweep of Adamson University, 25-15, 25-16, 25-20, in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Maroons improved to 6-5 and climbed to the fifth spot behind fourth-seeded National University, which is half a game ahead at 6-4.

Amid the jam-packed race to the Final Four, UP assistant coach Rald Ricafort said the Lady Maroons are not thinking of the other teams’ troubles and are only concerned on the games they have to play.

“They’re not that pressured. Wel, not in a bad way. They have this mindset that they’re not thinking about what the other teams’ are going through,” said Ricafort. “All we’re thinking about at are the games we still have to play.”

UP is yet to play against NU, University of Santo Tomas, and Far Eastern University, all of which are vying for the third and fourth seeds.

Isa Molde led UP with 15 points while Kathy Bersola and Diana Carlos had 12 and 11 points, respectively.

UP constantly bombarded Adamson scoring 42 spikes, twice what Adamson put on the stat sheets, and putting up 10 service aces.

Jema Galanza had 10 points to lead the 0-11 Lady Falcons.
