Final 4-bound La Salle still wary of upcoming foes, says Dy

La Salle’s confidence continues to build up as the defending champions are poised to enter their ninth straight Final Four in the UAAP volleyball tournament.

The Lady Spikers’ three-set win over University of the East, 25-16, 25-15, 25-9, Saturday propelled them to a league-best 9-2 record and ensured their safe passage to the semifinals.

“The confidence is there but there’s still the goal of beating the remaining teams one at a time,” said De La Salle hitter Kim Dy Filoil Flying V Centre. “We’re not thinking that we’re already in the Finals because it’s still the second round and we have to prepare for the remaining games.”

La Salle is scheduled to face University of Santo Tomas, Adamson, and Ateneo in its final three games of the eliminations.

The Golden Tigresses are still in contention for a Final Four spot while the Lady Eagles have been the Lady Spikers’ constant companion atop the ladder.

Dy warned they couldn’t be too carried away with their position even though they have been comfortably at the top for most of the season.

“We’re not really thinking too much that we’re at the no.1 spot because we can’t be too confident either,” said Dy, who had nine points against the Lady Warriors. “We’re always thinking that anything can happen and that we have to give our 100 percent every game.”
