PSC assures funds for troubled NSAs
BAGUIO CITY—The Philippine Sports Commission will continue to financially support national athletes amid ongoing conflicts among sports officials.
This was the assurance of PSC commissioner Charles Maxey who said the agency will remain in the service of national athletes, most of whom are in the thick of preparations for the Kuala Lumpur Southeast Asian Games slated in August.
“We want to assure the athletes that we will continue to support them,” said Maxey. “We hope they continue focusing on their training.”
Article continues after this advertisementPSC Chair Butch Ramirez would preside over a two-day seminar here among local government officials that would lay down the foundation of the Philippine Sports Institute in Northern Luzon.
The PSC and Philippine Olympic Committee’s current differences stemmed from alleged unliquidated funds incurred by the POC during the 2005 SEA Games hosting. Tennis and swimming are among two associations with internal disputes.
