Far Eastern University quickly went for the jugular against University of the East, 25-14, 25-18, 27-25, to keep its Final Four hopes alive in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Tamaraws evened up their slate to 6-6 although they stayed at sixth place behind National U in the standings.

UE had a slight 24-23 lead over the FEU in the third set but it quickly evaporated with Mary Anne Mendrez sending her own team in a deeper hole when her final attempt went off and the Lady Fighters sank to 1-11.

FEU, though, still has to take care of its two remaining games and rely on the other teams to lose if it wants to make it to the semifinals.

“This, for me, is really a challenge, but we don’t look it at as something to feel anxious about,” said FEU head coach Shaq Delos Santos. “Well, this is normal and we just have to be prepared for our upcoming games.”

Bernadeth Pons filled up the stat sheet for the Lady Tamaraws with 15 points, 15 digs, and six receptions while Jeanette Villareal had 11 points.

Shaya Adorador had 11 points to lead the Lady Warriors.
