The only Olympic gold medalist in WWE history took his rightful place among the immortals as Kurt Angle led the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame inductees Friday (Saturday Manila time) at Amway Center in Orlando.
A four-time WWE Champion, the Pittsburgh native returned to the WWE after 11 years and reminisced on his skits that made him one of the most endearing characters in sports entertainment.
“Take chances with your personality and your character because I did. Go ahead and make moments,” said Angle, as he finished his speech by downing two bottles of milk.
It was an astonishing night for Angle and the other inductees as they joined the ranks of other pro wrestling’s greats.
Also inducted in the ceremony were Diamond Dallas Page, the late “Ravishing” Rick Rude, Teddy Long, Beth Phoenix, and the team of Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, the Rock ’N’ Roll Express.
Rutgers football alumnus and motivational speaker Eric LeGrand was also bestowed with this year’s Warrior Award.
WWE also honored the industry’s legends with this year’s Legacy awardees, namely Bearcat Wright, June Byers, Judy Grable, Luther Lindsay, Farmer Burns, Rikidozan, Toots Mondt, Haystacks Calhoun, and Dr. Jerry Graham.
