De La Salle talisman Kim Kianna Dy had no problems taking a little breather ahead of their much-ballyhooed rematch against rivals Ateneo in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament.
Dy sat out the Lady Spikers’ match against bottom-dwellers Adamson University but her absence was hardly felt as the defending champions made it a quick 25-13, 25-14, 25-16 win.
“I was ready to play but it’s okay since it was coach’s decision to not let me play and just take a rest,” said Dy, who averages exactly 12 points a game for La Salle. “He just wanted to let me rest.”
Dy injured her left ankle on Wednesday in their three-set win over University of Santo Tomas, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21, where she finished with 12 points.
La Salle assistant coach Noel Orcullo said team physicians advised Dy to take at least three days rest.
“The doctors advised her to rest for three day just in case the sprain gets worse,” said Orcullo. “So we decided to let her rest and thankfully her ankle wasn’t that swollen anymore so by Monday she’ll be back to normal.”
