Glorious days are still here as Bobby Roode retained his NXT Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT TakeOver: Orlando Saturday (Sunday Manila time) at Amway Center.
Fending off his frustrations, the Canadian titlist pounced once again on the challenger’s history of right knee injury and got ample time to hit a spinning Glorious DDT off the turnbuckle to successfully defend his new-look belt.
But it’s not just the NXT Championship, as general manager William Regal introduced refurbished title belts throughout the night.
Asuka continued her unprecedented run as the longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion after topping Ember Moon.
The challenger was gearing up to hit for her Eclipse finisher before the Japanese champion pushed the referee towards the turnbuckle, sending the former crashing on the mat. There, Asuka nailed a thunderous kick to score the three-count.
The Authors of Pain successfully defended their NXT Tag Team Championships in their triple threat elimination match against DIY and The Revival.
Akam and Rezar took advantage of the slight confusion after Scott Dawson superplexed Tommaso Ciampa to the scrum on the outside, hitting the Last Chapter on Ciampa to first eliminate them out of the match before The Revival got their comeuppance with the Super Collider.
Aleister Black also made his triumphant debut as he knocked out Andrade “Cien” Almas with the Black Mass.
SAnitY beat Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, Kassius Ohno, and Ruby Riot in their eight-man mixed tag team match after Killian Dain finished the job and took out Dillinger.
No Way Jose was originally scheduled to participate in the match, but SAnitY attacked him earlier in the day at Wrestlemania Axxess and injured his knee. That led to Ohno stepping up to the plate and joining Dillinger, Strong, and Riot on the losing effort.
