Suspension, fine loom for Tubid
San Miguel Beer swingman Ronald Tubid will appear before commissioner Chito Narvasa on Tuesday and will definitely be fined and likely suspended for a flagrant foul 2 call that left Meralco’s Chris Newsome with a swollen right eye on Sunday.
Sources within the Office of the Commissioner said that Tubid would be fined at least P20,000 for that rough play, which happened with 9:12 left in the fourth period of a 99-92 victory by the Beermen in their Commissioner’s Cup debut.
FF2 calls earn automatic reviews and fines, and because of the gravity of the situation—where Newsome took a hit above the shoulder—the same source said Tubid would most probably be suspended.

The veteran guard was apologetic as he talked to reporters at Smart Araneta Coliseum after the game.
“It is what it is if I am fined,” said Tubid, who threw a towel at the television camera on his way to the exit. “I will respect the rules of the PBA. I am sorry.”
