Que, Lascuña clash early in ICTSI Manila Masters

Fancied bets Angelo Que and Tony Lascuña size each other up right at the start of the ICTSI Masters blasting off Wednesday at Eastridge Golf Club in Binangonan, Rizal.

Que, champion of the 2015 edition, and Lascuña, the reigning Order of Merit king, will tee off with rookie pro Ira Alido in the 7:20 a.m. flight on No. 10, both seeking strong starts in the P3 million event serving as the second leg of the Philippine Golf Tour.

Flashing the form that made him a three-time Asian Tour winner, Que posted a nine-shot romp in the PGT inaugural Anvaya Cove Invitational last February.

Lascuña, on the other hand, is trying to shake off a shaky start after dominating last season with five victories.

Also expected to figure prominently in the chase for the top P550,000 purse is defending champion Clyde Mondilla, who went on to top the next two legs and wound up second to Lascuña in the OOM.

“My condition is quite good,” said Que. “I had a good rest during the break but my chance for the crown is going to be a challenge since there are a lot of good players around.”

“It’s going to be an interesting start with Angelo but I also like my chances coming off a long rest,” said Lascuña.

Also expected to contend in the event, sponsored by ICTSI and organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc., are Jobim Carlos, who yielded last year’s title to Mondilla via playoff, and the revered Frankie Miñoza.
