UST bags Final 4 berth after Adamson beats UP in men’s volleyball

University of Santo Tomas crept into the Final Four picture after Adamson dealt University of the Philippines its ninth loss in the UAAP Season 79 men’s volleyball tournament Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The idle Growling Tigers have a 6-7 record and relied on the outcome of the match between the Falcons and the Fighting Maroons.

The Fighting Maroons slipped to 5-9 and with just one game remaining in both their and the Growling Tigers’ schedule, UST practically sealed the fourth seed in the tournament.

Jerome Sarmiento and John Yude led the Falcons with 18 and 17 points, respectively, as they spoiled UP’s hopes of a dance in the semifinals.

Dave Pletado also joined the fun as he had 11 points for Adamson.

De La Salle, though eliminated from the Final Four, earned a quick win over University of the East, 25-20, 25-16, 25-14, to improve to 5-9.

Geraint Bacon had 11 points to lead the Spikers while John Delos Reyes added eight.
