Adamson head coach Airess Padda gave a small insight on what kind of Lady Falcons will compete in the 80th season of the UAAP Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

Padda said her new team will have returners who did not play with the team in her first year as head coach of the Lady Falcons.

“We have some returners coming back, setter, another middle, opposite, it’s just going to make our team stronger so we’re excited,” said Padda after they won their first game in Season 79 with a sweep of University of the East, 25-15, 25-19, 25-15.

“I think our biggest battle going to next season is now that we will have competitive players, the expectation is going to be there, the expectation to win, the expectation to come in and perform as best as they can.”

Padda, whose first season with Adamson ended in a 1-13 slate, added the school will now start focusing on training the B Team who is set to represent Adamson in the upcoming V-League tournament.

“It will be nice to switch our focus to our B Team and kind of get them going,” said Padda. “They’re hungry, it’s not done because they’re not going to come in here and we’re magically going to hit the Final Four next year.”

And if there was any positive Padda took out from her disappointing start as the Lady Falcons’ head coach, it was that their 1-13 record would be their starting point for Season 80.

Skipper Jema Galanza will come back for the Lady Falcons to exhaust her fifth playing year and Padda will once again look to her captain to smooth things out in the playing court.

“That’s what this season was about, it was about building a strong foundation, and I think us ending in a win today just kind of sealed the deal for that foundation.”
