Pia Gaiser’s UAAP career is over, and for the diminutive libero it seems her volleyball life is ultimately at an end.
Gaiser suffered an ACL tear in her left knee late in the second round of the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament and with a recovery period reaching at most nine months, UP’s angelic defensive ace is afraid she won’t be playing volleyball anytime soon.
“I don’t know if I will stay volleyball because when I recover, I don’t know what (Shakey’s V-League) conference it will be and if there’s a team that will take me,” said Gaiser Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre after UP lost to Far Eastern University 25-16, 25-16, 27-25.

“It’s about six to eight, nine months and that’s a lot of time for me to think.”
Gaiser represented UP for five years, and she’s experienced every possible heart break in that half-decade when was playing for the State University.
From two-win seasons, to entering the Final Four in Season 78, to having a career cut short, Gaiser experienced it all.
Those heartbreaks, however, are all but memories to Gaiser who relished every moment if her UAAP career.

“I feel blessed that I was able to experience this phase where we finished with two wins to seven wins, that means a lot to me,” said Gaiser who saw UP end its Season 79 campaign end with a 7-7 record.
And even though Gaiser would potentially say goodbye to volleyball, she will say hello to another adventure.
Gaiser said she plans to enter the Medicine field and practice orthopedic surgery.
“What I’m sure is that I’m going to pursue Medicine,” said Gaiser.
