Jackson Corpuz got the biggest break of his professional career after Mahindra signed the undersized big man Thursday evening.

Sources close to the situation confirmed that the Floodbuster snagged 6-foot-4 forward just mere hours after Racal fell to Cignal in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup Finals.

Mahindra team manager Joe Ramos also said Corpuz has signed a contract good until August.

“We wanted to sign him up earlier, but with Racal’s success in the playoffs, we did not want to disrupt their run,” he said.

After going undrafted in 2014, Corpuz has carved a long career in the PBA D-League as he bounced from one team to another before landing in Racal last season.

This past conference has been the best of Corpuz’ career as he averaged 12.4 points and 7.1 rebounds for the conference, making him a contender for the MVP plum.

He further improved his averages in the Finals, where he netted 19.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in the Tile Masters’ first franchise championship appearance in the league.

Corpuz’ entry to Mahindra will be a welcome boost to its thin frontline which only banners import Keith Wright, Mark Yee, Jason Ballesteros, and Prince Caperal.

He will be cleared to play for the Floodbuster’s game on Sunday against TNT.
