A draw against Gata Kamsky on Saturday puts Wesley So in a share of the lead with Alexander Onischuk and Varuzhan Akobian in the 2017 US Championship in St. Louis, Missouri.
A day after shocking four-time US champion Hiraku Nakamura, Onischuk beat Jeffery Xiong to catch up with So and Akobian, who drew with Robson Ray, at 6.5 points in the all-Grandmaster tournament.
The Cavite-born So raised his unbeaten run to 65 games and is gunning for the $50,000 top purse against Daniel Naroditsky in the 11th and final round at press time.
