Over the weekend, the retired vets teased fans on what could have been if they had a fourth bout.

Both Liddell, now aged 47, and Couture, 53, laced up the gloves anew and  engaged in a light sparring match at  Jay Glazer’s Unbreakable gym in West Hollywood, California, United States.

The friendly match was gloriously captured on video and certainly brought back a lot of memories for longtime fight fans.

The pair first locked horns at UFC 43 back in 2003, with Couture winning the UFC light heavyweight title by third-round TKO.

Liddell would eventually get his revenge, winning the next two bouts in brutal fashion at UFC 52 in 2005 and UFC 57 in 2006, respectively.

Their last bout amassed over 400,000 pay-per-view buys and was the most watched ever in UFC history at the time, according to MMAFighting.

Liddell hanged up his gloves in 2010, while Couture walked away from fighting a year later. Khristian Ibarrola/JB
