Cherry Rondina is an unrelenting bundle of energy, zipping in and out of University of Santo Tomas’ offense, but it seems the grueling schedule of the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament has finally taken a toll on her.

With the UAAP taking a short lull in commemoration of the Holy Week, UST’s Energizer bunny is looking forward to a few days of just taking things a little easier.

Rondina said she would go back home to Cebu, where her mother Alona is waiting for her.

“I’m excited to go back home, rest, and spend time with my family because this is the first time that we will be complete,” said Rondina Wednesday.

Rondina’s mother worked as an overseas Filipino worker in Brunei and this is the first time in more than a decade that the two will spend time together.

UST’s captain said she won’t be spending a lot of time in the beaches of Cebu, despite growing up near one; instead she has her sights on horsing around swimming pools.

“No, I won’t be going to the beach because I might get darker,” joked Rondina. “Me and my family will spend our time on swimming pools.”
