Rain or Shine stared at a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter before Jeff Chan took over for a dramatic 96-94 win over Phoenix in the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Wednesday night at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Chan unloaded 12 of his 24 points inside the final six minutes, including the game-winning three-point play with 7.7 seconds left that capped off the Elasto Painters’ comeback from as high as 17 points.

“It’s a good comeback win for the team. I told them that the game is not yet over when Phoenix was up big,” said ROS head coach Caloy Garcia.

“Jeff did not give up, our import did not give up. It’s our defense that did it and we made the big shots especially Jeff.”

Import Shawn Taggart finished with 20 points, 17 rebounds and five assists for the Painters, who snapped a two-game losing skid and improved to 4-2.

Jameel McKay had 27 points, 18 rebounds and six assists for the Fuel Masters (2-4), who took a 71-54 buffer late in the third quarter.

With a chance to take the lead, JC Intal lost the ball on his way to the basket before Chan split his charities with 2.4 ticks left to seal the game.
