With everyone making sacrifices during the Lenten season, Ginebra is also doing penance in its own way.

Going against the grain this Holy Week break, coach Tim Cone opted to hold practices for Gin Kings’ on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday at Upper Deck Gym in Pasig.

“We have a practice on Thursday and Friday,” said LA Tenorio. “We took a break from Monday to Wednesday. This is our penance.”

The veteran guard shared that he welcomes the unconventional method, especially with most of the Manila folks out of town.

“We’ll also go to practices not minding about the traffic,” he said.

Tenorio, though, is still hoping to fulfill his annual Lenten traditions like the Visita Iglesia in his hometown of Nasugbu, Batangas, while also spending time with his family.

“I hope to take a brief break away from basketball, spend time with my family. Hopefully, I can do this even if we have practices on Thursday and Friday,” he said.

Ginebra returns to action on Wednesday against NLEX.
