Tough test ahead for Ting, assures Folayang

A former educator, Eduard Folayang is looking forward to teaching Ev Ting the difficulties of being a champion when they cross paths at ONE Championship: Kings of Destiny Friday at Mall of Asia Arena.

“I’ll teach him how hard it is to be a champion. He has to pass my test if he wants to be a champion,” the ONE Lightweight Champion said in Filipino on Tuesday at City of Dreams in Parañaque.

Folayang (17-5) vowed to not let Ting (13-3) get the better of him as he seeks to send the home crowd happy when he main events the Manila card.

But he knows that the match will be decided on who will make the better in-fight adjustments and commit lesser mistakes.

“We already know each other’s style. It will go down on who will be the one to adjust faster and will take opportunity of the mistakes,” he said.

The 32-year-old Folayang, however, is banking on his experience as he seeks to retain his title against the hungry Kiwi-Malaysian challenger.

“I’ve already faced high-caliber strikers and I’ve been able to look on the things I could capitalize. I think that has prepared me well for this fight,” he said. “I have a gameplan against him and I have to execute that gameplan perfectly so that my title defense will be a smooth one.”
