Former NCAA MVP John Vic De Guzman has been named the captain of the men’s national pool.

Sammy Acaylar, the head coach of the men’s pool that will see international action this year, has been impressed with De Guzman’s workload and dedication during their early morning practices at Arellano University- College of Law.

“All of them are exceptional, there’s no doubt about that, everyone in the team has the skills but John Vic leads by example and that’s what made him stand out,” said Acaylar.

De Guzman’s appointment as the pool’s skipper assures him of a spot in the team ahead of the final cut.

The team that will compete in the 29th Southeast Games will be announced after the pool’s nationwide tour.

“John Vic was never absent, he was never late, and he makes sure to mentor the younger players, he talks to them, and he respects everyone in the pool,” said Acaylar whose practices start at 6:30 in the morning.
