Global slams Myanmar club
Global FC scored four second-half goals to whip Magwe of Myanmar, 4-2, on Wednesday and move on the verge of qualification to the knockout phase of the AFC Cup at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.
Goals from Filipino international Pika Minegishi and Japanese winger Shu Sasaki sandwiched a brace from Trinidad and Tobago striker Daryl Roberts as Global finished the match with a flourish for its fourth win in five games.
The win hiked Global’s tally to 12 points, five ahead of Johor Dairul Tazim of Malaysia, which was slated to play Boeung Ket Angkor of Cambodia last night.

But the win also gives the Filipino side the inside track in the race for the best second placed team. Under the complex format of this year’s tournament, the top teams in the three Asean zone groups are guaranteed spots to the semifinals along with the best second placed team.
“It’s a win against all odds,” said Global FC team owner Dan Palami.
