Blackwater import Greg Smith showed up on Thursday as Gilas Pilipinas attracted a lean but youthful attendees for its evening practice session at Meralco Gym.
Accompanied by Elite team manager Johnson Martines, the high-scoring reinforcement participated in the team’s drills in preparation for the 2017 Seaba Championships in May.
“Greg was invited by coach Chot (Reyes) to join tonight’s practice,” said the affable team executive.
Smith’s entry was a welcome boost given that only 12 out of the 19 locals were able to partake in the drills.
Japeth Aguilar, Raymond Almazan, Allein Maliksi, Bradwyn Guinto, and LA Revilla were among the locals present for the session this rainy evening.
Also present were rookies Jio Jalalon, Kevin Ferrer, Ed Daquioag, Jonathan Grey, Mike Tolomia, Fonso Gotladera, and practice player Almond Vosotros.
June Mar Fajardo (sore knee) and Calvin Abueva (busted lip) sat out the session due to injuries, while Terrence Romeo, Troy Rosario, Roger Pogoy, Von Pessumal, and Carl Bryan Cruz also observed from the sidelines.
