TnT launched its torpedoes and proceeded to sink Globalport with a commanding 109-88 victory in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at Smart Araneta Coliseum Friday.
The KaTropa upped their win streak to five games for a 5-1 card to take sole possession of third seed while the Batang Pier were left to anguish at 10th with a 1-5 record.
“The defense was pretty decent tonight, especially on Terrence [Romeo] and Stanley [Pringle],” said TnT head coach Nash Racela. “Moreson on their import Malcolm White.”
TNT managed to clamp down on the Globalport trio of White, Romeo, and Pringle in the fourth quarter allowing just eight points from them in the fourth quarter.
In comparison, KaTropa’s reinforcement Donte Greene had 11 points all to himself in the final period.
Kris Rosales and Moala Tautuaa capped off TNT’s 11-4 run late in the fourth with the reserve point guard finding the versatile big man underneath for the jam to give the KaTropa a 105-83 lead with 2:32 left in the game.
Greene had a game-high 33 points to go along 10 rebounds to lead TnT while Jayson Castro and Ranidel De Ocampo combined for 29 points.
White had 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Batang Pier but committed eight turnovers.
Romeo added 20 points, on 8-of-20 shooting, while Romeo had 15.
