Kevin Belingon fired away with punches to score a technical knockout victory over Toni Tauru with 2:27 in the first round Friday at ONE: Kings of Destiny at Mall of Asia Arena.
The 29-year-old wasted no time unleashing his flurry of punches, bloodying his Finnish opponent before closing the match midway in the first round.
He also atoned for Team Lakay stablemate Geje Eustaquio’s defeat to Tauru last December here in Manila.
Belingon (15-5) finally ended his roller coaster record while dealing Tauru (11-5-1) his third loss in the promotion.
Honorio Banario also floored Jaroslav Jartim with a left hook in 1:31 of the second round in what could be the best finish of the night.
Doing away from his game plan, the former ONE Featherweight Champion stunned the Czech fighter with a killer left hook to the chin for the one-punch KO.
“My game plan was to show that we’re capable of submitting our opponents, but things happen,” he said. “Instead of implementing my game plan, my hands connected and my punches got stronger and stronger.”
Banario (12-6) stayed unbeaten since making the move to lightweight, while Jartim (8-6-1) suffered his first defeat in ONE Championship.
Christian Lee bounced back strong from his first defeat and pummeled Wan Jian Ping with strikes to emerge victorious via technical knockout at the 4:15 mark of the first round.
The Singaporean prodigy asserted himself on his Chinese foe, taking Wan to the ground before pounding on his head to earn the victory via referee stoppage.
Lee (6-1) rebounded from his defeat to Martin Nguyen on August last year and sent Wan (3-3) to his second straight loss.
