Defending Quick 8 champion Jonathan Tiu and new title pretender Aaron Lao collide for precious points Saturday and Sunday in the third leg of the National Drag Racing Championships Northern Series at Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
Engine overheat in the qualifying races knocked Tiu out of contention in his previous race, the second leg of the Southern Series in Batangas, allowing Lao to seize the premier Quick 8 title.
The two-day Northern Series showdown will have its qualifying rounds today with Tiu gunning for a third straight Quick 8 victory and Lao tipped to post a repeat win in the M&H division. —STEVE SILVA, RACING CONTRIBUTOR
