On a different level all season long, Bobby Ray Parks was named as the 2017 ASEAN Basketball League Local MVP Sunday at OCBC Arena in Singapore.
The 24-year-old swingman averaged 19.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists while leading Alab Pilipinas to a third place finish in the tournament.
He also set a new league record for most points scored by a local after unloading 41 points against Kaohsiung earlier in the season.
Parks became the third Filipino to win the plum following the footsteps of Leo Avenido in 2012 and Asi Taulava in 2013.
The former NU Bulldog also added this trophy to his already gaudy collection after previously raking up two UAAP MVPs, the 2015 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup Conference MVP with Hapee, and the MVP of the 2015 SEABA Championship.

Top seed Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions got the bulk of the hardwares in the awarding ceremonies, with Thai-American guard Tyler Lamb winning the ABL Heritage MVP, Marcus Elliott bagging the ABL World MVP, and coach Eduard Torres being feted as the Coach of the Year.
Singapore Slingers import Justin Howard was also honored as the Defensive Player of the Year.
