De La Salle captain Kim Fajardo said her first role as captain is to expect the most out of herself before she does the same to her teammates.

Fajardo was at her usual phenomenal self as setter while also reviving her high school role as a premier attacker to help the Lady Spikers to a 25-14, 25-20, 24-26, 25-13 victory over University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP women’s volleyball Final Four.

“I’m the setter, I’m the captain, and I’m the one they lean on when things get tough,” said Fajardo who finished with 11 points and 39 excellent sets. “So I should be the one who will stand strong, and I always tell myself that I will take responsibility to whatever happens.”

“Though I’m not saying that I can do this all by myself… I still have my teammates.”

Fajardo and company were coming off a disappointing loss to Ateneo in their final eliminations game, 12-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-19, and they had to turn things around against the Golden Tigresses if they ever hope to enter the title round on a high note.

Fortunately for the Lady Spikers, they did just that as they no enter their ninth straight finals.

“We had to redeem ourselves going into the Finals because when you’re coming off a loss you have to bring yourself back up,” said Fajardo. “And we really wanted to get back to the finals and get the championship once more.”
