June Mar Fajardo is relishing the way San Miguel has been running so far this 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
“We’re having a good start. This may be our best start in this conference,” he said in Filipino as his squad enjoys the top of the heap with its 5-0 card.
The Beermen’s dominance has been in full display so it’s no surprise that they remain the the lone undefeated team this conference.
However, that run may see its end soon with San Miguel set to lose the services of the Cebuano giant, who will be called up for national team duty for the upcoming 2017 Seaba Championships in May.
But the reigning three-time PBA Most Valuable Player believes that the Beermen still have the materials to compete without him.
“We trust each other because we’ve been together for so long, so the chemistry is already there and it’s showing in our games. When one struggles, our bench has been there ready to step up. We just have to keep the faith on coach’s system because our remaining games are against tough teams,” he said.
In the mean time, Fajardo’s sole focus for the few days will be on the national team as he joins Gilas for the 2017 PBA All-Star Week.
“Wherever I play, my attention will be there. Now that I’m with Gilas, I’ll put my focus on Gilas. Once I return, that’s when I’ll think about San Miguel again. I don’t want to be overwhelmed if I think about both at the same time,” he said.
