RunRio 42K earns course certification
The concluding race of the pioneering RunRio Trilogy has secured a course certification from the International Association of Athletics Federations and Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
The country’s premiere running series, now on its seventh year, kicks off June 25 with the RunRio 21K which also features 10K and 5K races. The second leg, RunRio Afroman, is slated Aug. 13 with 32K, 21K, 10K and 5K events, followed by the RunRio Philippine Marathon, a 42.195-kilometer race scheduled Oct. 1.
“We’re now averaging 12,000 entries and I am happy to be a part of the running boom in the country,” said running coach and organizer Rio dela Cruz during the event launch on Friday at Okada Manila.
Dela Cruz was joined by RunRio Events, Inc. managing partners Andrew Neri and actor Dingdong Dantes, also chair of YesPinoy Foundation, one of the race series’ beneficiaries.
