Clippers forward Griffin undergoes big toe surgery
LOS ANGLES—Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin underwent surgery Monday to repair the plantar plate of his right big toe, the team announced a day after being ousted from the NBA playoffs.
Robert Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist, performed the operation in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Article continues after this advertisementWhile the Clippers did not give a timetable for Griffin’s recovery, he is expected to return in time for pre-season training camp in October.
Griffin was injured during game three of the Clippers’ first-round Western Conference best-of-seven playoff series against the Utah Jazz and missed the remainder of the matchup, which the Jazz won in seven games.

Griffin averaged 21.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 61 regular-season games this past season. He has career averages of 21.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists over 471 NBA games.
