The rookie’s five minutes of fame, however, might have just gotten longer as his antics have reached an even bigger scale.

The viral video of Jamito’s unconventional side-stepping jam has reached the hosts of NBA TV’s podcast and cable television program “The Starters”.

The hilarious move, which is now being dubbed by netizens as the “Pambansang Eurostep” (National Eurostep), had the packed Quezon audience howling in laughter, after the spirited 26-year-old made Japheth Aguilar stand just a few feet away from the basket.

But instead of rising above his 6’9 teammate, Jamito craftily avoided Aguilar using the move popularized by the San Antonio Spurs’ Manu Ginobili.

“Sometimes a bad dunk contest is just as much fun as a good one,” The Starters co-host Trey Kerby said, as he showcased a part of the hilarious clip.

“He’s setting up for an over-the-guy dunk and just jumping over the side of him,” he stated the obvious, which elicited even more laughter from co-hosts J.E. Skeets, Tas Melas and Leigh Ellis.

The deceiving dunk, meanwhile, was pitted against a similar jam done by Ellis in a poll titled “Which fake jump over a guy is better?”

Ellis edged out Jamito in terms of fan voting, as the pair received 72 and 28 percent, respectively. Check out the full episode below. JB
