4-cornered fight looms at Luisita

/ 12:01 AM May 03, 2017

A four-cornered shootout looms as the $60,000 ICTSI Luisita Championship blasts off Wednesday at Luisita Golf and Country Club in Tarlac.

Local aces Miguel Tabuena, a two-time winner at the Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed course, and defending champion Tony Lascuña have been tagged co-favorites with Englishman Steve Lewton and American Micah Shin.

Lascuña, however, believes this year’s edition will be more competitive owing to the talent-laden 107-player field.

“This is going to be tough,” said Lascuña, who won the event by six shots last year. “The course remains as challenging as ever and the heat will surely be a factor especially on the final day.” —ROY LUARCA
