Adamson wins two straight at expense of San Sebastian
Adamson has kept its tide rolling in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup after coming away with a 64-61 win over San Sebastian in thrilling fashion Wednesday at the tournament’s namesake arena.
Sean Manganti threw the jab as he sunk a triple off the right corner to cut the deficit to 61-60 at the 1:21 mark of the game.
Article continues after this advertisementThen it was Jerrick Ahanmisi who delivered the haymaker when his layup gave the Soaring Falcons a 62-61 lead with 19.1 seconds left in the game.
Allyn Bulanadi’s ill-advised triple gave no such reprieve for the Stags as the ball caught air and went out of bounds at the 11.9-second mark.
“For me this is a good experience for us, winning two close games,” Adamson head coach Franz Pumaren said after his Falcons escaped with a 61-56 overtime win over Arellano University in their opener.
Article continues after this advertisement“Towards the game I let them to play their own game but the only problem with that is that they get their egos involved,” he added. “Still, it’s a good test and training for us, at least we’re getting used to playing in this kind of situation.”
Manganti scored a game-high 19 points for the Falcons while Ahanmisi and Rob Manalang had 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Papi Sarr owned the paint for Adamson as he posted a 10-point, 14-rebound double-double.
Michael Calisaan led San Sebastian with 15 points while Ryan Costelo added 14. /atm
