Grethcel Soltones powered BaliPure to its third straight win with a straight set romp over Pocari Sweat, 25-23, 25-22, 25-14 to stay unbeaten in the 2017 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference women’s division Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The former three-time NCAA Most Valuable Player towed the Water Defenders with 20 points, 18 of which coming from kills to solidify their stronghold of the top spot.
Risa Sato added nine markers, while setter Jasmine Nabor got 26 excellent sets to aid BaliPure’s 39 hits.
“We played better today, but I didn’t expect to win. That’s because whenever I expect something, it’s either me or my players get pressured and we don’t perform at our best,” said coach Roger Gorayeb.
Early favorite Pocari Sweat succumbed to its second straight defeat.
Myla Pablo paced the Lady Warriors with 10 points, while Jeanette Panaga, Maricar Nepomuceno and Elaine Kasilag all had nine in the losing effort. /atm
