PSI readies athletes’ ‘showroom’
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY—The Philippine Sports Institute is setting up a showroom of athletes where the national sports associations (NSAs) can pick the type of competitor they need.
PSI national training director Marc Edward Velasco said the institute is now working on the database of young athletes throughout the country by subjecting every prospective talent to a battery of physical and practical tests for profiling.
At least 50 children aged 8 to 14 gathered Thursday at Puerto Princesa City Coliseum here where PSI coaches and physical education teachers from the Department of Education measured the physical features of each participant.
