A brewing NBA conspiracy theory has been the talk on the internet recently, as some fans are suggesting that a classic “twin-swap” has occurred during the ongoing 2017 NBA Playoffs.
The buzz started over the weekend, when Washington Wizards forward Markieff Morris suffered what looked to be a serious ankle injury in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference second-round match-up against the Boston Celtics.
But after a few days, the former Kansas Jayhawk suited up for Game 2 and produced an impressive stat line of 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists, albeit in a losing effort.
Morris played as if nothing happened, which raised suspicions among netizens.
The reason: Markieff has an identical twin brother Marcus, who just happens to also be an NBA player for the Detroit Pistons.
Aside from their similar facial features, the two mirror each other’s playing style on the court and even boast identical tattoos on their respective bodies.
Shortly before Markieff and the Wizards headed home for Game 3, Marcus took to Twitter to put an end to the rumblings.

“I wouldn’t play for another team unless I’m on that team. Smooth (Markieff) playing on a sprained ankle. I didn’t expect anything less,” he wrote.
Markieff, on the other hand, has yet to address the rumors and was once again a huge factor in the team’s 116-89 victory against the Celtics on Thursday (Friday in Manila). Khristian Ibarrola /ra
