Duel as it might seem to a lot of fans, San Miguel import Charles Rhodes begged to disagree when it came to his faceoff against TNT reinforcement Donte Greene on Friday.

“Yes, it’s a duel but he’s scared to guard me though,” he said. “I guard him but he won’t guard me. I tell him don’t talk trash to me if he won’t guard me. I’ve been telling him the whole game, ‘Guard me. Guard me.’ But he didn’t. He didn’t challenge me. I’m not scared to guard him. He’s scared to guard me.”

Rhodes stuffed the stat sheets with his line of 43 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two rebounds.

On the other hand, Greene tallied a season-high 41 markers, 21 boards, four assists, and two blocks in the matchup.

However, it was the KaTropa which emerged as the victor, pulling out a 112-103 win to deal the Beermen their first loss of the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Still, Rhodes believed that Greene would be unable to get the numbers he got had they guarded each other for the whole game.

“Definitely not. I played more minutes, this is the most minutes I played. So I was real fatigued,” he said. “(Greene) kept sitting back. He won’t guard me and that’s why he’s getting all those points because he was fresh.”

Though Rhodes felt that he got the upper hand in his tussle with Greene, the reinforcement felt that he and San Miguel have some unfinished business with TNT after suffering the defeat. And that made him want the KaTropa more come playoff time.

“I hope we meet them in the playoffs. Finals, semifinals, or something. I want to play them again for sure. We’ll have my man (June Mar Fajardo) back and we’ll have Matt (Ganuelas-Rosser), so it will be great. I definitely want them again,” he said. /atm
