A champion coach with San Beda in the NCAA, new National University mentor Jamike Jarin is setting the standards high for the Bulldogs even during the preseason.

Jarin was left fuming over his team’s performance after the Bulldogs barely escaped Emilio Aguinaldo College, 87-85, on Friday in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup in San Juan.

“I would like to forget this game because we didn’t deserve to win,” said Jarin, who moved to NU just a few months after steering San Beda to the crown late last year. “The reason why the result went our side is they got tired.”

JJ Alejandro and Matt Salem pumped in 25 and 20 points respectively for the Bulldogs, who gave up 29 points in the first period, where it trailed by 15 points.

Later, Arellano battled guest team Flying V to a 77-all tie.

The Thunder, preparing for the PBA D-League, are a guest team so the league decided not to play the overtime period.
