LAS VEGAS—After watching Manny Pacquiao dominate Shane Mosley comprehensively Saturday night, promoter Bob Arum declared that the pound-for-pound king is far better than the one who last held the honor—Floyd Mayweather Jr.

“He would beat the crap out of Floyd,” Arum said during the postfight press conference. “I guarantee.”

The 79-year-old Hall-of-Famer said that, as a student of boxing, Mayweather knows that fact.

That’s why he’s been avoiding a much-awaited fight against The Fighter of the Decade, Arum said.

“He knows us,” added Arum. “If he has any desire to fight he would call and tell us.”

Though Mayweather also dominated Mosley when they collided early last year, Mosley was able to rock Mayweather in the second round.

Mosley didn’t even come close to wobbling Pacquiao. Instead, it was Mosley who fell in the third round and barely survived.

Arum explained that he sees nothing wrong that Pacquiao has not been able to knock out his last three opponents.

According to Arum, Pacquiao is too good that he’s taking his opponents out of their normal fight routines.

“You gotta understand that Pacquiao is a phenomenon. I’ve never seen a greater fighter in my 41 years in boxing.”

With Pacquiao showing improvement at every fight, Arum said there’s probably no one in his weight (147) division that could beat him right now.

Asked about a possible fight pitting Pacquiao against middleweight king Sergio Martinez, Arum hesitated a bit.

Though he believes that Pacquiao will be able to hurdle Martinez, Arum said it would take a great toll on his favorite fighter.

Arum said there probably will be a 27-pound weight difference if the two collide and he deemed it is too much.

The guys Arum are looking at are old nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez, Timothy Bradley and Zab Judah.

According to Arum, Pacquiao could face anybody and it’s going to make money because “he (Pacquiao) is always the aggressor” and is an interesting fighter.
