Perlas pulled off a victory from the depths of another five-setter, overcoming the Power Smashers, 29-31, 24-26, 25-19, 25-23, 21-19, for the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference solo lead Saturday.
Perlas put a tense display of steady play in front of the Filoil Flying V Centre audience on the way to a 2-1 card. Defense helped Perlas seal the win, fetching the two needed points off blocks to finally put an end to the match.
The Power Smashers dropped to 1-2.
BaliPure continues to lead the league, formerly known as the Shakey’s V-League, with its 3-0 mark.
Perlas was coming off another five-setter, which it lost to Air Force Tuesday after stunning Creamline on opening day.
Kathy Bersola had 13 attack points for Perlas while Amanda Villanueva added 18 markers and 14 digs.
Earlier, Army sustained its hot start and ripped Café Lupe, 25-20, 25-18, 25-19, in the men’s side.
