PSC: hosting of SEA Games a lot better this time

Philippine Sports Commission Chair Butch Ramirez is positive that the country’s hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games will be so much better than the previous one.

Ramirez briefed Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri on the hosting of the biennial Games and the things needed to put up an efficient organizing committee.

“I think this will be more organized than the one we hosted before,” said Ramirez, who sat down with Zubiri on Monday and provided the senator with an overview of what needs to be done in the next two years.

President Duterte recently appointed Zubiri as chair of the Games’ organizing committee.

“He (Zubiri) is very positive and excited, but he’s careful not to make mistakes,” said Ramirez. “I’m confident we can organize this well because we have the experience.”

Ramirez was also the PSC Chair and chief of mission in 2005 when the Philippines hosted the SEA Games for the third time, the first and only time the country ruled the 11-nation meet.
